Rules for Transportation of Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs can be arranged for transportation as checked baggage only and exclusively at the check-in desk at the airport of departure. They are transported free of charge in excess of the free baggage allowance.

Customers can use their own wheelchairs before entering the aircraft, with the exception of electric wheelchairs. If a customer checks in a wheelchair as checked baggage at the check-in desk, he/she will be taken to the aircraft in a wheelchair to be provided by the airport.

The wheelchair will be returned to the customer in the baggage reclaim area – in this case, the PRM customer will be taken to the baggage reclaim in the wheelchair to be provided by the airport.

Provide the airline with information in advance about the type of battery installed and how to handle the wheelchair. If your wheelchair has a lithium-ion battery, be sure to check the battery capacity before booking and driving to the airport!

Requirements for Transportation of Electric Wheelchairs:

Wheelchairs are carried with disconnected and isolated electrical circuits (battery terminals). Where the mobility aid has a removable battery and the customer has a tough rigid pack, it will be carried with the removed battery. The battery should be disconnected, isolated and dismantled either by the customer or by the accompanying person.
